Installation instructions

Gutter system bryza pvc installation

When choosing a gutter system, calculate the so-called Effective Roof Surface using the following formula: ERS = (A+B/2) x C A – horizontal distance from the corner to the roof ridge (m) B – roof height (m) C – roof length (m) 0°C Minimum installation temperature

2

Application of OCEAN gutter systems

When choosing the size of a gutter system, it is important to consider the size of the roof area you intend to drain.

Next to this, we present suggestions for the correct sizing of systems.

3

Installation of a gutter system

The correct installation of a PVC gutter system is a guarantee of its long-term durability and reliability, even in difficult weather conditions.

An advantage of the design, as opposed to traditional solutions, is the ability to compensate for thermal changes in the length of its individual components. This is realised through the appropriate design of gutter and pipe fittings.
In gutters, this is achieved through a sliding connection
with gutter couplings fitted with flexible seals, and in downpipes, through assembly play at the connections to the pipe couplings.

In addition, the fastening elements of the gutter system to the roof and building walls, such as gutter brackets and pipe clamps, in addition to stabilising the system also make it possible to compensate for variations in its length.

When fitting gutters to galvanised sheet metal gutter strips,
it is necessary to paint them or use coated sheet metal.

4

Correct location of gutters under the eaves

Correct installation should protect the guttering
from being hit by snow sliding off the roof.
The top edge of the gutter overhang should not extend above the extension of the roof slope plane, as shown in the drawing.

5

Determination of the position of the trigger funnel

The first step in installing the system is to determine the position of the drain funnel, which is the lowest level of the gutter section of the system.

6

Determining the correct gradient of gutters

First install the bracket furthest away from the drain funnel, then the bracket at the drain funnel. Stretch a string between the brackets and establish the correct gutter pitch. Mount the PVC grips directly onto the fascia board.

7

Mounting brackets

PVC and steel brackets are fixed directly to the roof batten or rafter. The distance between the brackets should be 40-50 cm.

In order to ensure proper water drainage, the gutter should have a slope towards the drainage funnel of min. 2 mm per 1 m.

8

Installation of guttering into holders

Cut the gutter to the correct length at right angles with a fine-toothed saw. On PVC and metal brackets, installation begins by inserting the guttering overhang into the front nose of the bracket and then pressing the inner part of the guttering under the back nose.

9

Installation of corner, drain funnel and gutter connector

When joining, attention must be paid to the correct position of the gaskets located in the funnels, connectors and corners, as well as to the stops located on the inner surface of these components.

We recommend the installation of additional gutter brackets at the connection gutter – gutter fitting, gutter – drain funnel and gutter – corner.

10

The corner, drain funnel and gutter connector are installed with the gutter by sliding over the front gutter overhang and then snapping onto the rear gutter overhang. The gutter ends should be approx. 5 mm in front of the stops.

11

Installation of gutter bottoms

The installation of the gutter bottom starts with the insertion
The gutter bottom is installed by sliding it into the front overhang of the gutter and then clipping it onto the back overhang of the gutter.
Make sure that the seals are positioned correctly.

12

Installation of downpipes

We connect the downpipes with funnels, elbows and push-fit pipe fittings. In the case of eaves projecting more than 10 cm beyond the wall, the downpipe is extended with a downpipe section.
We install the elbow, pipe, elbow and downpipe in sequence.

13

Leave 10 mm slack for thermal expansion of the pipe.

14

Installation of the downpipe clamp

The clamps are fixed to the wall in the appropriate length with a clamp hook. If necessary, we use an additional stabilising facade collar. The clamps on the downpipe must be installed at least every 2 – 2.5 m.

15

Clean-out

Above ground, we install a clean-out to prevent debris from entering the storm drain system. A removable settling basket allows for efficient removal.

16

Installation termination / drain

We connect the end of the downpipe to the rainwater system using a settling tank or install a drainage elbow.

17

Storage and transport

Storage of gutters and pipes should be on a flat surface in a horizontal position on level sleepers and in contact with them along their entire length. A maximum storage height of 1 m is permitted. The edges of stands and means of transport coming into contact with gutters should be protected with e.g. thick cardboard or boards. Fittings packed in cardboard boxes should be stored and transported under cover.

The load must be immobilised during transport. It is recommended that loading and unloading is carried out manually. If mechanical equipment must be used, special care should be taken to avoid localised crushing or dropping of the elements.
